Today we live in fast and modern world in which there is new economy that are based by the biggest sustainable competitive advantage - knowledge. But complex environment dictate the need to understand and manage that knowledge. Therefore arises factors which could empower knowledge in performance. That is why established new approach in the organizational world that was named the competence based approach. New approach showed need for specific body of knowledge, person's skills and characteristic. Many research expressed advantages of analyzing and developing competencies. Competencies management brought to companies better effectiveness, satisfaction of employees work and clearer perception of factors that leaded to successful performance. Consequently, it become more and more urgent to identify the ownership of certain competencies and their implementation. But many ructions among scientist and different interpretations brought obscurity. That showed that competencies are complex and very dificult to define and measure and needed more sophisticated models, that could express specific competencies factors. Lithuania information technology industry is one of the important industry in the country. In this industry human recourse and it‘s abilities is key resource that generate revenue, consequently, for this industry programmers is very important to know which competencies to manage and implement and how to do it in order to be effective and to reach success in performance. Therefore, specifically for programmers it is very important and useful competency management. But though there is much attention to competencies, there is no specific competency models that could help information technology specialist to help develop their competencies in the right way, that could be reached job market needs and succesfull performance. |
