Abstract [eng] Relevance of the topic. For small businesses it is difficult to win in a competitive market, to attract new customers and to retain them. Moreover, high staff turnover reduces the amount of income. According to scientists the main solution to these difficulties - investment in human capital, making communication and knowledge dissemination more efficient, improving microclimate as well as increasing mutual trust. During the process of knowledge dissemination employees share knowledge, which can be linked to new products, services, the new definitions of organizations/industries, etc. Due to this reason, with presence of effective dissemination of knowledge workers can improve the proposed products/services, or to contribute to the development of the new range. Excellent knowledge dissemination contributes to more efficient staff work and decreases the number of mistakes. However, the topic analyzed is relevant not only for theoretical but also for practical aspects. The analyzed topic provides opportunities to learn wider and in more \"depth\" about the activities of the joint stock company UAB Ergolain projektai, its internal communication, means of communication and knowledge dissemination. The performed study helps to learn about the knowledge dissemination within the company, reveals the problems that workers usually face while sharing knowledge using horizontal means of communication, as well as causes which impede improvement of extensive knowledge dissemination. Provided improvement solutions for the knowledge dissemination contribute to efficiency of activities of UAB Ergolain projektai and improvement of knowledge dissemination. Object of the thesis. Knowledge dissemination by the means of horizontal communication. Aim of the thesis. To develop guidelines for improving the efficiency of knowledge dissemination through horizontal communication means at the enterprise UAB Ergolain projektai. The objectives of the thesis: 1. To identify theoretical and practical problems of knowledge dissemination through horizontal means of communication at a small enterprise UAB Ergolain projektai. 2. To define a theoretical construct, revealing knowledge dissemination through the means of horizontal communication. 3. To empirically determine the level of knowledge dissemination using means of horizontal communication and problems in the enterprise UAB Ergolain projektai. 4. On the basis of result analysis, to present reccomendations for UAB Ergolain projektai to improve knowledge dissemination using horizontal communication means. The main theoretical results of the thesis: the main problems faced by small enterprises which do not have effective dissemination of knowledge include the loss of customers, projects defeat, staff turnover, complex communication between staff, bad microclimate and mutual distrust. To avoid these problems, the final work analyzes the dissemination of implicit and explicit knowledge, its’ sharing through formal (annual reports, intranet, training sessions, etc.) and informal (publications, memos, Skype, etc.) means of horizontal communication. Small enterprises in which employees share knowledge get benefits - optimal problem solving, improved employees‘ morale, enhanced employees‘ intelligence, more effective mutual cooperation, closer relationship among employees, productive, efficient use of knowledge, reduction in the number of made mistakes, accumulation of the best practices, excellent inner atmosphere and greater mutual trust. However, the effective dissemination of knowledge may face human, organizational and technological interferences. The main research results. Knowledge dissemination at the company UAB Ergolain projektai has been found not effecient, and the staff is not satisfied with the process. Employees continously encounter such problems as high time expenditure for the work carried out, the lack of feedback or a large number of corrections of accomplished works. Such recurrent errors may be affected by the fact that despite sharing explicit and implicit knowledge by employees of the analyzed company, the lack of this kind of knowledge is felt. This proves that transmitted knowledge does not reach the final recipient, knowledge is not transferred to all colleagues, it is lost during sending/receiving process or is not fixed or classified. Inefficient level of knowledge dissemination is also determined by the fact that employees of the UAB Ergolain projektai tend to share their knowledge only with those colleagues who take the same positions or implement the project together at the time. Although the dissemination of knowledge of the analyzed company is not effective, however, in the enterprise UAB Ergolain projektai such technological, verbal and non-verbal horizontal communication means are most frequently used which transfer implicit and explicit knowledge in the most effective way. The main reccomendations. Development of staff competence in the field of knowledge dissemination; improvement of microclimate and such values as mutual trust; introduction of additional effective horizontal communication means.
