In this work, two separate subjects – open innovations and internationalization in knowledge-intensive firms (KIF) were reviewed by means of theoretical literature and case study analysis based on lack of research on the association between open innovations beneficial influence on acceleration of small knowledge-intensive firms internationalization processes. The main object of this study is the interaction between open innovation and internationalization in KIF. The goal of this work is to justify the interaction between open innovation and internationalization in KIF. This is accomplished in four parts that depict four tasks of the study. The first part of this work provides a general introduction to KIF knowledge management and internationalization by highlighting the main problems. The second part focuses in detailed analysis of different scientific studies about open innovation and internationalization. In the third part, the methodology of case study research is presented. In the fourth part the case study research results of 5 Lithuanian KIFs are concluded and recommendations for further improvements are proposed. |
