The foreign direct investment are one of the main factor for the economic growth, development and one of the most important macro-economic indicators. Countries try to attract the foreign direct investment by using stable legislative regulations, ensuring friendly economic and social environment, ensuring stanble political situation. The foreign direct investment can be used as a tool to enter to a new market, expand export, reduce production costs, implement new technologies, knowledges, work organization methods. Investors carefully choose where to invest, take into account possible risks. The object of the Master’s thesis is Lithuanian foreign direct investment. For this reason, the aim of the final work is to analyze the impact of Lithuanian foreign direct investment to home country economy. The paper will seek to analyze the global foreign direct investment trends; reveal Lithuanian foreign direct investment development and issues; analyze the concept and forms of foreign direct investment; analize the correliation between foreign direct investment and economic indicators; determine correlation strength between Lithuanian foreign direct investment outward and main economic indicators: gross domestic product, unemployment and export. The first part of the Master’s thesis analyze the outward foreign direct investment positive and negative aspects, how it is affect home country economy based on the scientific articles and publications. Lithuanian investment indicators change after joined the European Union. The second part analyzes the concept and the types of the foreign direct investment, how it affects production, unemployment, and export indicators. The third part of the paper consists of Lithuanian outward foreign direct investment and capital flow from the foreign impact the production, unemployment, and export indicators, which one of them are effected the most and the least.
