World globalization and constant growing of international trade increases competitiveness not only between companies and industries, but also between countries. National competitiveness becomes one of the most important sources for growth. The purpose of this paper is to analyze national competitiveness factors and their impact to labour productivity. Dynamics and structure analysis of factors affecting labour productivity includes market size, FDI, R&D and innovations, government expenditure, macroeconomic factors, education and health, labour market factors, business efficiency. Factor, correlation and regression analysis reveals the most important determinants affecting labour productivity. The findings show that the most important competitiveness factor is R&D expenditure. Also identified a strong relationship between labour productivity and market openness, FDI, government expenditure, education and labour cost. Competitiveness comparison of East European countries shows that big R&D expenditure don't guarantee high labour productivity, it depends on how efficient it will be used. |
