Continuous process of globalization requires higher level of competitiveness of the whole country or industry sector. Lithuania and its industries have to cope with the competitive pressure of the European Union and the world markets. Competitiveness research actuality is encouraged by ongoing political decisions that affect a completely different development of economy. The Russian embargo announced in 2014 on dairy products, fish, meat, fruit and vegetables from European Union, the United States, Canada and Norway still has significant consequences for the competitiveness of country, industries and enterprises. Lithuanian dairy sector takes the largest part of the Lithuanian food industry and the competitiveness of this sector has significant importance to the country's economic well-being. |
