Abstract [eng] |
Summary Due to the intense competition between sellers and manufacturersin the global agricultural machinery (AM) trade market, it is very difficult to survive and expand in it. Therefore, the Lithuanian Agricultural machinery trading company operating in the mentioned market must make such strategic decisions that respond to the subtleties of international trade in the AM, search for optimal solutions that help to stand out in the market and gain a competitive advantage. The object of the study is the development of international trade in agricultural machinery in foreign markets. The purpose of the research is to investigate the prerequisites for the development of international trade in agricultural machinery in foreign markets. The tasks of the research, responding to the purpose of the research, are aimed at: 1. To examine the concept and structure, policy, and features of international trade in agricultural machinery; 2. To analyse the competitive environment of international trade in agricultural machinery in the markets of Lithuania and the European Union; 3. To empirically assess the possibilities of international trade in agricultural machinery development in foreign markets. Data collection methods (analysis of scientific literature sources, secondary statistical data, structured interviews) and data analysis methods (descriptive statistics, qualitative content analysis) were used to achieve the research objective. The analysis of the scientific literature revealed that the European AM trade markets are expanding, mostly in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, and it is predicted that in 2023 The EU's AM market will increase by 4.3 percent. Although the EU market is consolidated and the main 5 European, US and Japanese AM producers operate in it, the EU is strong not only in the primary but also in the secondary AM market. It has been established that Lithuanian farmers are increasingly buying used agricultural machinery and its demand is mostly related to the increasing production volume of agricultural production and its rising prices, which encourages farmers to invest more. The results of the empirical study revealed that the Trade agricultural machinery company in 2018- 2022. mainly sold semi-trailers, loaders, tractors in the markets of Lithuania and Latvia. The main manufacturers for which the company sells AM are John Deere, Fendt and Case. After evaluating the opportunities for the development of international trade in agricultural machinery in foreign markets, it was found that there is a lot of competition in the markets of new and used agricultural machinery, the markets were significantly negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, which led to increased production costs of agricultural machinery and disruptions in agricultural machinery production. The research revealed that the possibility of selling more used agricultural machinery in foreign markets opened for the company Trading agricultural machinery, i.e. in Poland and Germany, where there are favourable political, economic, socio-cultural and technological conditions for the expansion of international trade. |
