| Abstract [eng] |
The importance of this Master‘s thesis is proved by the claim that the European Union structural funds are one of the main resources in order to sustain regional development and help reach the goals of the strategy „Europe 2020“. These goals comprise the creation of conditions for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The object of the thesis is European Union investments. The purpose of the work is to analyze European Union structural funds investments in Utena district municipality. The main tasks of the research are: 1. To analyze theoretical aspects of EU investment in self-governance; 2. To discuss the European Union's structural funds and their use and peculiarities in the context of Lithuanian self-governance; 3. To analyze the EU investments, good practices and make recommendations for more effective use of investments for further development of Utena district. The thesis uses the following methods: scientific literature analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, survey. While the efficient use of EU investments in self-governance is one of the preconditions for a successful development of the region, this issue in the scientific literature and research is still very fragmented. |
