Abstract [eng] |
Biodegradable cationic starch (CS) containing quaternary ammonium groups, which was made from native polysaccharide, can be used for microalgae flocculation. Six CS with different degree of substitution (DS) ranging from 0.17 to 0.32 were synthesized. The addition of analytically pure and industrial CaO was evaluated for reaction yield, DS and duration of modification. It was found that addition of CaO shortens modification duration two times by obtaining higher DS and reaction yield. Flocculation efficiency was evaluated by turbidity and sedimentation high of water fraction in kaoline model and microalgae disperse systems. Aggregation of microalgae flocs was evaluated by flocs-water medium filtration velocity. CS flocculants with and without CaO addition were used to assess flocculation efficiency, their minimal and optimal doses was compared with cationic synthetic flocculant. Flocs made of microalgae and CS were characterized by method of scanning electrochemical microscopy and compactness. There was evaluated anionic synthetic flocculant influence to flocculation efficiency of CS. Obtained results showed that flocculation efficiency of new CS flocculants, which DS was 0.24, 0.32 (without addition of CaO) and 0.32 (with addition of CaO), were similar to cationic synthetic flocculant. |
