Abstract [eng] |
The popularity of applying Agile practices is growing rapidly due to its significant impact on project achievements. These practices ensure better communication both: within the team and with external stakeholders, the teams work more efficiently and the customers are more involved in the process than in the case of traditional project management. It is noted that the topic of Agile project management is still not fully explored. There are many factors that influence the relationship between Agile practices and project achievement. However, there are not much research analyzing them. This paper is designed to analyse selected Agile practices: a product backlog; sprint planning; sprint development; Stand-up meetings; sprint reviews; retrospectives; customer acceptance tests; customer involvement, impact on project achievements, and evaluate the effect of project innovativeness. The aim is to determine how the innovativeness of the project changes the impact of selected Agile practices on project achievement. A conceptual research model has been developed to address this topic. Each of its constituent scales has been analysed using publications from other scholars. Accordingly, a questionnaire for the analysis of the research problem was developed and submitted. Its reliability was confirmed empirically using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and principal factor analysis. The questionnaire was used in an empirical study involving 102 respondents from employees of various IT companies in Lithuania applying Agile Scrum practices. Applying Spearman’s correlation coefficients, it was found that all Agile practices are positively interrelated. Also, all of them, except Stand-up Meetings, positive correlate significantly with project achievements. Applying the method of linear regression analysis, it was found that the application of retrospective and customer acceptance tests allows for a positive prediction of project achievements. A significant role of project innovativeness was also identified. After applying the moderation analysis, it was found that the product backlog; sprint reviews; the links between customer acceptance tests and project achievement are different as project innovativeness changes. The higher the innovativeness of the project, the more significant the benefits of applying these practices in predicting project achievements. This reveals the strong role of project innovativeness in Agile project management. Based on the obtained results, the contribution of the research is evaluated, and recommendations for other researchers and practitioners are provided. |
