Abstract [eng] |
Blood pressure is one of the most widely used physiological parameters in cardiovascular system diagnostics. Nocturnal blood pressure monitoring might be used to evaluate increased risk of stroke. Most of the methods used in such circumstances require cuff which regularly awakens the person being monitored. Due to these reasons new method based on pulse transit time was suggested. In order to evaluate suitability of this method for blood pressure variability new prototype was developed capable of registering electrocardiogram and photopletysmogram signals on the upper arm. Based on these signals pulse transit time evatuation algorithm was developed. During investigation participats were asked to perform several tasks that affect blood pressure (slow breathing and insertion of hand in cold water) as well as to wear the prototype overnight for nocturnal pulse transit time monitoring. It was observed that pulse transit time varies in narrow range and is inversely proportional to blood pressure. Therefore, this method might be suitable for long term blood pressure variablity assesment. |
