Compounds containing a pyrazolopyridine moiety are known for their anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antimicrobial, antituberculous and other effects. Due to the wide range of their biological properties and applicability such compounds are receiving considerable attention among scientists around the world. This project focuses on the synthesis of 2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridines, varying by the substituents at the 4-position of phenyl. The Sonogashira-type cross-coupling reaction was performed under standard reaction conditions using 1H-pyrazol-3-yl trifluoromethanesulfonates as a precursor, corresponding 3-alkynyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehydes were obtained. Treatment of pyrazolecarbaldehydes with dry ammonia gave a group of new 2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridines. Later, newly synthesized compounds were sent for the evaluation of cytotoxic activity against K562 and MCF-7 human cancer cell lines. |
