As the economic and regulatory environment changes rapidly, companies are forced to adjust their activities and business models in order to comply with both regulatory requirements and societal expectations. At the same time, companies in the packaging sector are required to meet the sustainable development goals, hence they have to have a comprehensive and innovation oriented approach. In Lithuania, small and medium-sized companies are recognized as being the most active in innovation and that is determined by an innovation favourable ecosystem, including fosterage of and aids for such an activity. COVID-19 crisis caused disruptions in the supply chain, changes in customers‘ behaviour and needs, and those challenges along with the regular ones have ultimately led companies to their business model innovation in order to sustain and continue the business activity. The aim of the project is to disclose an evidence of innovation in business models of the companies in the Lithuanian packaging sector and determine it as a success factor while responding to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis. |
