Abstract [eng] |
Dynamic capabilities allow companies operating in dynamic business environments to quickly adapt to market changes while maintaining a competitive advantage and the speed of innovation. Mature dynamic capabilities have an indirect positive impact on business performance, enabling organizations to reconfigure existing operational capabilities more effectively. This requires strong, entrepreneurial managers. In the twenty-first century, business and information technology are becoming increasingly inseparable. Information technologies streamline business processes and enables dynamic capabilities in the organization. However, research shows that business and information technology alignment is one of the biggest organizational challenges in recent decades. IT departments find it difficult to adapt to the ever-changing needs of businesses. Instead, they need clear processes, rules, and a long-term strategy to develop high-quality, long-term, and flexible IT solutions. Business representatives are often not immersed in information technology activities and value creation, and information representatives are not business-oriented. In the digital age, the information technology component is becoming the fuel of organizational innovation, so strategic business and information technology alignment is a critical part of the long-term success of organizations. Rapid growth of an organization is often based on the use of dynamic capabilities, however incorrect or excessive use of dynamic capabilities can create a too rapid business environment which is unfavourable to the quality of technological solutions. This study seeks to answer a question: “How dynamic capabilities influences business performance and the alignment of business and information technology in a growing information technology organization?”. The research is carried out by performing a comparative analysis of dynamic capabilities and business -information technology alignment literature, as well as a case study in the growing information technology organization UAB Hostinger. We analyse the components of the organization's dynamic capabilities and business and information technology maturity. We study how dynamic capabilities influence company's performance and the activities of information technology departments. The results of the research reveal that UAB Hostinger has strong dynamic capabilities in various business processes, the company is able to quickly adapt to changes in the market, often change direction, invests heavily in managerial competencies, knowledge sharing and co-creation. This leads to a rapid growth rate of the organization. The company manages to easily discover new opportunities. However, the study reveals that the organization has difficulty seizing these opportunities, implementing long-term, aligned, high-quality technological solutions. The organization also lacks mature business and information technology alignment and strategy integrity. This allows us to assume that the expression of UAB Hostinger's dynamic capabilities potentially has a negative impact on the business and information technology alignment and poses challenges to information technology activities, which could potentially further accelerate the growth rate of the organization. |
