The global market for mergers and acquisitions has a major impact on the global economy. As a result of the pandemic and recent geopolitical changes, most companies have started mergers and acquisitions. Consolidation is an inevitable process for those companies that are experiencing major difficulties during this period. For other companies, this is one of the best ways to fill the gaps in skills, resources and technology. The logistics sector, technology, media and telecommunications sector, the health care sector are the fastest growing business sectors in the world. The growth of mergers and acquisitions in different sectors encourages competition for companies seeking the highest possible return on investment. The merger and acquisition is a complex management process, so ensuring efficiency is one of the key factors for successful integration. There are 3 types of mergers and acquisitions: direct negotiations, public and private auction. The competitiveness and value of the company is the main reason for the merger or acquisition. The literature highlights five key factors that determine the success of mergers and acquisitions: human resources, the length of the negotiation process, the experience of similar transactions, the size of the company, cultural differences. Quantitative and qualitative research evaluation methods are used to determine and assess the significance of factors for the success of mergers and acquisitions. Four main evaluation methods are discussed: event research method, accounting research method, method of comparative analysis of financial indicators, case analysis. |
