Abstract [eng] |
It has long been known that different environments affect the formation of groups of people born at certain times. The Baby boomers and the X generation were born in a technology-neutral environment, the Y generation was the first digital generation wave to be born during the technology boom, while the Z generation was born in an already developed world of technology. Research reveals that these technological changes have brought both positive and negative effects on the formation of different generations. Currently, the labor market is dominated by the X and Y generations, while the Z generation is the potential of organizations - a new generation entering the labor market. Proper management of different generations in the company is the key to the success of the organization, and the emotional competence of employees is one of the factors that helps to achieve organizational goals. The problem of this final project is linkage between the usage of digital technologies and emotional competences of different generations, and the object is the linkage between different generations usage of digital technologies and their emotional competences. The aim of the study is to identify the linkage between the use of digital technologies and the emotional competence of different generations. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are set: 1. define the concept of emotional competence and digital technologies; 2. to define different generations in the context of digital technology development and to reveal the goals and frequency of different generations usage of digital technologies; 3. to develop a model of the links between digital technologies used by different generations and emotional competence; 4. to examine the links between the use of digital technologies and the emotional competence in the context of different generations. The results of the study revealed that there is no statistically significant difference in the assessment of emotional competence of respondents belonging to different generations (with a small exception) - respondents' emotional competence does not depend on which generation the survey participants belong to, and the different technological environment does not affect emotional competence during generations. However, research has shown that the use of digital technologies can have both positive and negative effects on emotional competence. Respondents who use digital technologies as a means of communication develop their interpersonal emotional competence, but it was found that the use of the social network called Instagram negatively affects the respondents' personal emotional competence. Thus, the evaluation of the research results revealed that emotional competence is influenced not by belonging to one or another generation, but by the habit of using digital technologies. Regardless of which generation the respondent belongs to, his or her emotional competence may be developed better or worse by assessing how long and what digital technologies he or she uses. |
