Abstract [eng] |
According to the International Coffee Organization 107 kilog-rams of coffee beans have been consumed during 2020 and most of it in Europe. During the initial coffee harvesting and coffee beverage preparation lots of by-products are being obtained, such as: pulp, silverskin, husks, spent coffee grounds. Considering the concentration of chemical elements in coffee waste, these by-pro-ducts are not being used properly in development of new products or materials. In this thesis, possibilities of making granular ferti-lizers made of spent coffee grounds, were analysed and evalu-ated. Coffee ground were collected from coffee shops located in Kau-nas and without any further processing (drying stage) were gra-nulated with laboratory granulator-drier. The results showed that the granules made of coffee grounds did not meet the require-ments for granular fertilizers. To improve the chemical composi-tion and physical properties of the granules other organic subs-tances were added. |
