Abstract [eng] |
Increased interest of consumers on nutraceuticals rich foods reasoned the use of cranberries in the diet in relation to human health. Berries of wild Vaccinium oxycoccos clones and cultivars provide large variability for yield, colour and quantities of biologically active compounds. Estimation of different phytochemical components was fulfilled in this study with a main goal to identify and maintain genotypes that have superior attributes such as high organic acids and easy digestible carbohydrates amounts. Forty genotypes of Vaccinium oxycoccos were cultivated under the uniform ecological conditions and the most prospective of them were distinguished. The wild clones of Lithuanian origin 98-Č-17 and 98-Č-15 also Estonian cultivars „Maima‟ and „Soontagana‟ were selected as the most valuable regarding organic acids and glucose amounts. |
