Abstract [eng] |
Thin polymer films are widely used in various industry fields. Tensile properties of conventional bulk materials are well known but they are not necessarily same as those of thin films, because the properties of thin films may vary with fabrication process, texture and thickness. An overview of testing methods of thin film mechanical properties was done during this research work. Main focus was on testing polymide (Kapton®) foils. The samples were of three diferent thicknesses and were cut out in two different directions. Tensile test were done at four diferent strain rates. According to the stress- strain curves obtained from the micro-tensile tests Young's modulus was calculated. The obtained Kapton ® foil Young's modulus are close to the theoretical value and obtained results correspond to the one‘s of similar research works‘ published in science papers. In this research work samples were tested using a modified computerised micro-tensile setup. It was modified in order get a larger maximal displacement of the specimen. |
