Abstract [eng] |
Using water unreasonably in production of nitrogen fertilizers causes reduction of national water resources, as well as other concurrentenvironmental problems: formation of wastewater, waste, high electricity flow rate etc. The objective of this work is to conduct an assessment of water saving Cleaner Production (CP) innovation implementation in production of nitrogen fertilizers and to identify their impact on environmental efficiency. The research comprised methods of Cleaner Production pollution prevention and process integration. The analysis of water – wastewater flow rates at AB „Achema“nitrogen fertilizers production revealed the main environmental problems and their causes: inefficient use of water in production withdue to wastewater release into sewerage and open circulation water cycle systems. During the research, three innovations of Cleaner Production were suggested: 1. Cleaning and recycling wastewater in ammonia production workshop; 2. Cleaning and recycling wastewater in carbamate production workshop; 3. Closed circulation water cycle systems. Analysis of the research revealed, that the implementation of the suggested innovations would increase the environmental efficiency and obvious economic benefit would be achieved: water usage rates would reduce in 11 %, wastewater flow rates – in 78 %. Innovations would allow reduction of chemicals, used for water preparation, electricity flow rates, natural gases, used for production of electricity, flow rates and indirect emissions into the environment. The innovations would allow saving 3.9 million Euro annually. |
