Abstract [eng] |
Nuclear energy is highly efficient and clean compared to conventional methods to produce energy. However past catastrophes in nuclear energy industry had shown there is not enough attention to secure the operation during different conditions and external disruptions. Overheating of reactor core is the main threat. Reactor’s cooling system contains isolating – regulating valve (IRV) which is this paper’s numerical analysis object. Under normal conditions of RBMK type reactor water passes through IRV at 270oC and pressure of 7 MPa. Due to complex geometry of valve and its functionality pressure inside IRV drops potentially enabling water to reach its saturation conditions, boil inside valve and disrupt safe operation of reactor. Numerical analysis was performed to examine the production of two – phase flow inside IRV. |
