Boosting country's competitiveness in international business thesis is an issue relevant to a rapidly changing world of globalisation act. The emerging knowledge of economy and rapid growth of consumer needs requires innovation in all areas. Countries must achieve greater operational efficiency and innovation in order to remain competitive. It states that clusters are the key for improvement of competitiveness. Although the importance of clusters to country's competitiveness is already perceived, the matter of subject is not yet sufficiently developed in the scientific literature. The analysis of clusters was initiated at the end of 19th century, while the last two decades the concept and the meaning of clusters has been perceived and analyzed in Europe. The main target is to improve the competitiveness of Lithuania through the development of clusters. The aim is to assess possibilities in order to improve competitiveness of lithuania by creating clusters. The purpose of work is defined by the tasks which leads to such a working structure: firstly there is presented the concept of competitiveness and the cluster role in increasing country's competitiveness; then are identified cluster barriers and evaluated lithuania's and EU cluster policy meassures to mitigate theses difficulties; study analyses the statistical information in order to assess the current situation in Lithuania development process of clusters, Lithuanian cluster policy is compared with other EU countries cluster policy; the position of Lithuania is valued by the World Economic Forum reserach, the perspectives are determined for competitiveness to develop clusters and present proposals for effective functioning of these processes. Work methodology that helped to solve these targets, contains the analysis of scientific literature, the analysis of European Union and Lithuania legislative instruments, statistical and comparative analysis methods. |
