Back in 1998 prof. from Harvard University Michael Porter wrote about a new business model that was called cluster. He was the first who described it and in description of successful cluster he wrote about importance of geographical location of business, right competition level and cooperation among all organizations. In accordance with this description and from analyzing several examples from around the world in this master thesis I suggest that creating a business cluster in Kaunas old town would be a wise decision for all involved organizations, for the community and a city as a whole. I base my assumptions on data I got after conducting a research in which I took interviews from business owners and managers from inside the old town. So all assumptions and suggestions for creating a cluster, that are made in this paper comes from analyzing situation in old town and merging that information with known theory of cluster model. |
