Master's thesis analyzes the behavior of voters in the European Union accession referendum. Political scientists are wrote a number of publications that analize voter behavior, causes and consequences. However, there are a few scientific works, which analize voting behavior in referendum on membership of the EU at the time. Work raises a problem: Why would voters voted in Lithuanian referendum on joining the EU? Because there are not enough data about referendum voter behavior so it based on survey data and analize what factors are related to population, positive, negative, or neutral voting intentions for EU membership. Voting intentions of the individual factors and the importance of these intentions change over time becomes an important aspect of the analysis that helps to explain how the preferences of the electorate has evolved and why the referendum on EU membership and the behavior of voters during the referendum results were exactly as follows. Object of the work: the behaviour of voters and related factors at the time of referendum. Aim of the work: to determine the reasons which influence voting behaviour at the time of referendum. In order to achieve the object of the work, these three tasks are formed: to analyse academic literature, articles in order to figure out peculiarities, reasons and consequences of voting behaviour, on the basis of public opinion and research center Vilmorus surveys done by Lithuanian citizens – „Lithuania citizens attitudes on EU“ – determine the changes in the voting intentions importance of factors affecting. Based upon the findings of the study, it can be said that the greatest influence on voter intensions exert mass media, social networks, disposable income, social and economic security sense. |
