In Lithuania, the re-use of products and preparation for re-use as waste management is a new activity, the development of which started at the regional level in 2018, therefore it is useful for regional waste management centers to study the potential of this activity. The region of Alytus was selected for the study, where currently, the only region of Lithuania, there is already a center for preparing items for re-use and 19 items exchange pavilions in each sorting center. Based on municipal waste material flows, comparative analysis between Alytus region and other countries, stakeholder surveys and calculator of WRAP to asses reuse potential assessment in all aspects of sustainability, recommendations, suggestions and possible business model will be prepared for re-use and preparation for re-use model further development in Alytus region and at national level. |
