Abstract [eng] Modern dental prosthesis production is based on the accuracy of scan bodies digitized with intraoral scanners. Various accuracy estimates for positions of digitized scan bodies in dental arch were used. The assessment of these estimates in existing studies are directly dependent on the scan bodies themselves. Thus it is necessary to introduce the landmarks independent of scan bodies to the measurement protocols. These landmarks could be constructed using characteristic regions in digitized dental arch. The purpose of this work is to analyze exiting position estimates of scan bodies and select possible forms and places of reference landmarks in dental arch. In this study five metrological spheres located in buccal dental arch area were selected as a primary construction object for reference landmark. Plane as the reference landmark was selected and constructed using mentioned sphere centers. By using plane as reference landmark three scan body estimates: rotation, angulation and vertical shift were evaluated. Rotation estimate was observed to be dependent on scan body angulation. In this regard it was decided to develop two methods for reducing angulation influence on rotation estimate. The study’s results of the sphere accuracy showed that spheres centers and radiuses are dependent on intraoral scanner resolution and the position in the dental arch. Vertical shift and angulation estimates are most accurately assessed using three sphere: two spheres positioned near opposite sided molars and one near at the central incisors. The results of the methods for angulation reduction on rotation estimate were not showed to have a clear difference.
