Abstract [eng] The installation of management systems in small objects is not widely spread. Manufacturers are mostly focused on developing automation systems for large buildings. The aim of this project is to propose and explore a different building management concept, which combines standard automation solutions into a common system with a simple open source software and standard hardware. This paper reviews the most popular current systems on the market. After the analysis it was chosen to work based on KNX building management. This paper describes the developed hybrid of KNX and Arduino system. An interface converter which supports the KNX software library is used for the connection. For this project it is chosen to use two physical data transmission technologies for the interface: UART interface and KNX TP bus. The system supply voltage is 30V. The same power supply is used to transfer power other devices in the system. The system is programmed by using Arduino IDE and KNX ETS software. After adapting the open source to the KNX software, the transmitted signal corresponds to the technical charecteristics of the KNX signal, which means that the system can be controlled with the help of an Arduino microcontroller. The research results of the developed system showed that its characteristics are close to the standard KNX system.
