The restructuring process of Lithuanian industry during the last decade was complicated and formed the existing structure of industry. The prevailing sectors of Lithuanian industry consist of traditional branches with low technological susceptibility as food industry, woodand wood products industry, wearing apparel and dressing industry, furniture industry. Nevertheless, the development of high technology industries is necessary. The practice of foreign countries economic development presented that advanced technology industries are key industries which are expected to play an important part in the functioning and development of the economy now and in the future. The competitive ability of industry enterprises is facilitated by industry policy implemented in the country, stimulating the progress of science and technique and innovations, sustaining the investments into the scientific research and design of new products, renovation of technologies, development of human capital. |
