Abstract [eng] The constituent sugars of non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) were measured according to the modified H.N. Englyst and J.H. Cummings method by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). The results showed that the main constituent sugars in berries are glucose and xylose (1.23 and 1.98 g/100 g), in vegetables - glucose, galactose and mannose (0.56, 0.31 and 0.18 g/100 g), in cereal products - glucose, xylose and arabinose (3.74, 2.25 and 1.44 g/100 g), in flaxseed - glucose, xylose, arabinose and galactose (4.5, 2.37, 2.21 and 1.87 g/100 g), in soy beans - galactose, glucose and arabinose (4.64, 3.71 and 2.49 g/100 g). Soy beans, berries and vegetables contain higher quantities of hexoses, respectively 2.9; 3.0 and 5.8 times more than that of pentoses; in cereal products and flaxseed the quantities of hexoses and pentoses are similar, they both contain more arabinoxilans. The results obtained adds to the information for a database for NSP and its compounds in plant foods.
