Electric power losses are inevitable in the processes of generation, transmission, distribution and consumption of electric power. These losses can be defined as a difference between energy supplied to a system and accounted or charged customers’ energy. Energy losses can be classified into technical associated with losses in system elements, and commercial associated with unidentified and unpaid losses. Knowing the exact amount of technical electric power losses in the distribution network is an important task of the distribution system operator. Accurate calculation of actual and technical electric power losses enables the distribution system operator to evaluate and minimize commercial energy losses (illegal consumption). The main related problems and a more precise and comprehensive methodology of the calculation of technical power losses and calculation results of real technical power losses are presented. |
