The article analyses maps of the Kaunas city published in 1922, 1929, 1935 and 1936 in large number of copies with the aim of depicting the historical picture of the city through the cartographic drawings. The paper reveals a significant growth of social infrastructure of Kaunas as the provisional capital of independent Lithuania and shows the change of the picture of the city; appearance of new accents; formation of the network of streets and construction of buildings; bridges; development of industrial landscape such as railways, factories, etc.[...]. |
