Abstract [eng] Aflatoxin M1 appears in milk and dairy products as a direct result of the ingestion of feed contaminated with aflatoxin B1 by cattle. Because of the potential health hazards for humans, the levels of aflatoxin M1 are regulated and monitored throughout the world. The aim of this study was to investigate the contamination level of aflatoxin M1 in raw milk. Raw milk samples were collected from farms in various districts of Lithuania during the winter period of 2007 when cows are fed in stables. The ELISA immunochemical method RIDASCREEN®Aflatoxin M1 was used for evaluation. After investigation of 82 milk samples it was found that the concentration of aflatoxin M1 was below the detection limit 0.005 µg/kg.
