Abstract [eng] |
High competition in the labor market encourages employers to think about more aspects in organizations. One of the most important factors is to retain existing employees and increase their involvement. Employee engagement was first discussed in the 1990s by author W. A Kahn, who defined personal engagement as the use of members of an organization for their work roles. Later, this topic was discussed more widely and was directly related to employee retention and loyalty, productivity and customer satisfaction (M.S. Rao, 2017). So it is not a secret that most companies these days are still looking at this aspect and making certain decisions according to their needs. The information technology sector is one of the hottest in the market today and it struggles to attract, retain and engage employees. Also, companies in this field are often characterized by innovative solutions, so they will be explored in this Final Master's Thesis. One of the solutions to increase employee engagement and widely used in organizations is employee education. In this work, was chosen to talk about educational innovations – innovative ways in which employees become involved in the activities of the organization and their responsibilities. Author M. Fullan (2007) and OECD (2017) singled out several characteristics, six of which were selected – use of new, redesigned learning materials, application of new teaching methods, reflection of individual differences, use of broad assessment and feedback, promotion of horizontal communication, collaboration with "external" players. Thus, based on the characteristics singled out by the authors and the model of assumptions of employee involvement through educational innovations, a qualitative study was performed. two information technology companies participated in the study, so the two case studies allowed to compare the differences between the organizations and to discover similarities. Semi–structured interviews were conducted with seven informants. Research methods were also used – analysis, review and synthesis of scientific literature and information sources, and analysis of secondary data. The goal of the Master's Thesis is to reveal the preconditions for employee involvement through educational innovations in information technology companies. The results of the empirical research revealed the main assumptions of employee involvement through educational innovations, which are directly related to better employee performance and cultural aspects. The study also allowed to distinguish the main characteristics of the engaged employee and the exceptional behavior of such employees in the workplace. Another interesting insight is that more experienced company applies more educational innovations, but both companies do not have mentoring programs and give employees the freedom to set learning goals and pursue them independently with minimal managerial assistance. |
