Abstract [eng] The development of renewable energy has a significant impact on the structure of the economy through the redistribution of capital resources and jobs. An essential part of renewable energy is biomass, based on natural resources. Biomass energy is an integral part of the bioeconomy. Bioeconomy involves the production of added value from natural resources, emphasize the use of organic waste. The authors aim to provide evidence of the importance of biomass clusters for the development of the bioeconomy by studying the economic and social changes in individual regions. Research has shown that the use of biomass has significantly improved the social and environmental situation of the regions, thus multiplying the positive economic effects. Conversely, regions that remain dependent on fossil fuels, which are imported in many cases, are halt economic development and facing significant economic and social problems.
