The task of this work was to investigate the pH control quality of adaptive controller. To achieve this, a bioreactor model was created using MATLAB Simulink software. In this model, a biomass cultivation process block was formed, where differential equations describe the volume, biomass concentration, hydrogen ion concentration and substrate concentration of the cultivation medium. An optimization algorithm is used to optimize the adaptation parameters of the adaptive controller. The adaptation parameters were optimized using integral criteria of the control performance. Then a combination of adaptation parameters that meets the highest quality of control was selected. After that, disturbances of substrate solution pump efficiency and alkali solution pump efficiency applied. Also, the volume feedback signal and pH sensor feedback signal were disturbed using white noise disturbances. After investigation of the applied disturbances to the process, the control quality of the adaptive controller was compared to the quality of the conventional PI controller. |
