Technological development, globalization, social and economic change are creating new requirements for business and the labour market in the world and in Lithuania. With the globalization of trade, the importance of foreign languages is constantly increasing, and fluent English has long become a necessity. Educational systems, educational institutions, learning tools and relationships between teachers and learners need to change and adapt to the needs of knowledge and skills. Technological development also opens up new, unprecedented opportunities for technology use: ICT tools are used not only as a source of educational material but also as a tool for developing additional linguistic situations and enhancing learning experiences. Appropriate use of ICT tools in language learning process stimulates learners' motivation, interest, and awareness, assists in remembering the information, creates conditions for communication and collaboration. The use of technologies in foreign language courses depends mainly on the teacher's attitude and the decisions that are directly influenced by the teacher's interest in IT innovations, confidence in the operational skills of his ICT tools. In order to perform a successful role as educators, it is necessary for foreign language teachers to maintain a constant interest in ICT development and constantly improve their qualifications. The aim of this study was to find out what ICT tools teachers use in the adult learning process and to create a comprehensive ICT tool kit for teachers to update and diversify their lessons and enhance language learning experiences for their students. The result of this study is the creation of a comprehensive set of English language ICT tools to enhance the educational experience in adult learning which is presented in an experimental online course for teachers. Additionally, a teacher survey was conducted to assess the usefulness of ICT tools and the course. |
