Abstract [eng] Doctoral dissertation explores the relationships among the determinants for early internationalization of INVs, which can be classified into three levels – environmental, firm, manager; the process of internationalization, in terms of recognition and exploitation of opportunities across national borders; INVs’ networks, distinguished into different types (formal, informal, intermediary); and the international performance of new ventures. The quantitative research strategy has been applied. Multiple Regression analysis and Structural Equation Modelling methods empirically prove that only an integrated examination at different levels allows for an objective assessment of the significant impact of relevant determinants on the recognition and exploitation of international business opportunities. Empirically proven impact of internationalization process on networks, and internationalization process and networks’ impacts on international performance are disclosed. Bootstrapping and other statistical methods have provided evidence that networks act as a mediator and that internationalization process influences international firm performance via networks. The deeper analysis of network types provided evidence that different network types contribute to the relationship between internationalization process and international performance of INVs differently. It was proven that formal networks play a particularly major role in mediation.
