Abstract [eng] |
In the autumn of 2018, the teachers’ dissatisfaction with the failed implementation of the education reform, which ended with a national strike, caused a crisis of public administration that ended with the dismissal of Minister of Education and Science Jurgita Petrauskienė. Poor communication of the government and the minister during the crisis did not solve the problems but pushed it into the escalation phase instead. With the help of media and social networks, the information field of the crisis has spread – the fragmentation of various social groups and the threat to the stability of the public administration system has arisen. The situation proves that the role of communication in public governance and political discourse has become very important, and that public institutions lack the skills and readiness to cope with emerging communication crises. Therefore, crisis communication in public administration is relevant to the study of public administration studies. |
