This handbook is aimed at developing capabilities of scientists and other researchers in searching, retrieving, handling and using the online research information resources (databases). The handbook consists of ten chapters. The first three of these are intended for the development of general information searching and management skills. The following six chapters present the information searching tools to be used in the relevant area of research (physical, technological, biomedicine, social, humanities and arts resources) and the peculiarities of searching. The last chapter 10 is provided for library professionals responsible for licensing of online information resources, administration and assurance of access to the licensed resources. Each chapter of the handbook contains training materials, self-study exercises, links to information resources, summarizing comments and the list of references. |
