Doctoral dissertation focuses on the analysis of the influences regarding the interplay of diversity in team composition, its openness and replacement at different stages of the innovation process (i.e., creativity and idea implementation) on the innovation team outcomes. The research aim is to determine the influence of team diversity, openness and replacement during the different stages of the innovation process on the innovation team outcomes in terms of the creative product and the achieved novelty level (the type of innovation – radical, architectural, incremental). Team composition is conceptualized based on the team diversity and its openness for the new members throughout the innovation process, and with regard to the innovation team outcomes. The conceptual relationship between team diversity, its openness and replacement during the different stages of the innovation process and the innovation team outcomes is grounded. A new approach of connecting creativity and innovation management fields in an empirical study is introduced while integrating creativity and innovation as processes and outcomes. Statistical modelling empirically proves the relationship between team diversity, its openness and replacement during the different stages of the innovation process, and defines its influence on the innovation team outcomes. The empirically proven interplay between the team diversity and the team openness on team outcomes is disclosed. On this basis, model on the team diversity management via the team openness and replacement with regard to the expected innovation outcomes is introduced. It underlines the complementing roles of the team diversity, team openness and team replacement in defining the team outcomes even at the level of radical innovation. |
