In this Master’s Final Degree Project the change process and change management are analysed while highlighting the synergy of this phenomenon in the system of education. In addition to this, it is emphasized that two separate factors, if working together, have larger impact and socioeconomic benefits. The concept of change management in the educational institutions is also discussed in the thesis. The importance of proper planning, the identification of the expected results in the change process as well as the need to understand the implementation of the whole process is also stressed. The scientific problem requiring answering the following question is solved: even though similar internal and external factors lead to changes in educational institutions, why the change process and its results in those institutions are different? The object of the master thesis: implementation of the change process while managing changes in the educational institutions. In order to define the scope of analysis, the subject was identified: the schools of general education of Ukmergė district municipality. The aim of the thesis: to reveal the implementation of the change process in educational institution from the point of view of change management. In order to achieve the aim, the tasks are defined and they are implemented in the three parts of the Master’s Final Degree Project: in the first part of the paper, the concept of change process is discussed through the presentation of the definition of change and particularities of implementation of change process. What is more, the change process in the field of education, regularities and principles of change in this area are highlighted. The secondary statistical analysis is conducted in order to present the change of number of schools. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to the overview of the concept of change and change management, to the discussion about changes in the system of education. In addition to this, the application of the model of integrated change management for the analysis of change process in an organisation is explained. The results of the qualitative results and the methodological guidelines for the implementation of the change process in the educational institutions are presented in the third part of the Master’s Final Degree Project. The following methods are used in order to collect data which is required for the reaching of the aim and conducting the tasks of the research: analysis of the scientific literature; secondary statistics; case study; semi structured interview. The data is processed using the analysis of secondary statistics, Excel programme, analysis of a case and content analysis of semi structured interview. The analysis of the scientific literature and the results of the empirical research allowed suggesting the methodological guidelines of the implementation of change process in the educational institutions. The results of the research enriched the conceptual insights by the practical aspect. They enabled to strengthen the implementation of the change process, control and efficiency. The methodological guidelines are verified by examining their structural aspects; therefore, these guidelines might be applied in other schools of general education. |
