Abstract [eng] |
Due to globalisation and emergence of digital culture, new forms of communication arise. Cultural mediation in the form of translation becomes an everyday communication practice. As a result, translation studies interface with a wide range of other disciplines. Thus the need of new, interdisciplinary field of research is being established. Global changes and digital technologies condition the development of translation studies, which become intertwined with the research of digital culture, communication, media studies and new media language. The aim of this paper is to discuss the links of translation studies with other disciplines and to analyse the thematic field of the Bachelor final thesis in the Technical Language Translation program at Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Humanities. The analysis has revealed that contemporary translation studies are inseparable from philosophy, information science, psychology, sociology, digital culture, literature, media studies and technological sciences, thus the thematic area of investigation and future research could be extended taking into account the contemporary needs and interface of translation and media studies with digital culture and new media communication. |
