| Abstract [eng] |
The process of powder coating produces two kinds of waste: metal surface finishing sludge and waste painting powder. Before disposal, waste painting powder is sintered and converted into a solid mass. This study deals with the possibility to use waste painting powder for metal surface finishing (phosphating) sludge stabilization. Tests for heavy metal leaching from three different kinds of phosphating sludge and from sintered samples were carried out. The content of hexane-soluble substances in the sludge and in stabilized samples was also tested. The investigation has shown that waste painting powder sintering is not suitable for metal finishing sludge stabilization because by this method the leachability of Zn was reduced by 67%, of Fe by 54% and of Cu by only 42%. |
