Abstract [eng] The application of the water-insoluble cationized cellulose carrier DEAE-Granocel for the production of tablets containing a protein-based model drug has been studied. Adsorption of bovine serum albumin by cationized carriers was found to be very high (up to 815 mg/g). The release rate of bovine serum albumin from DEAE-Granocel depended on the carrier drying conditions. Gastro-resistant tablets from lyophilized carriers with adsorbed BSA, hydroxyethylcellulose and magnesium stearate were made. Magnesium stearate inhibited the tablet erosion in the model gastric medium because of the waterinsoluble stearic acid formed from magnesium stearate on the outer layer of the tablet. Tablets with various excipients were made. Dissolution tests in model gastric and intestinal media showed that the release rate of BSA was slowest from tablets made with the following excipients: hydroxyethylcellulose, magnesium stearate and lactose.
