The subject of the final master’s thesis is the integration of a polymer modified bitumen unit, capable of producing 64000 tons of product, into the existing bitumen production line. Polymer modified bitumen facility consists of colloid mill, polymer, and additives unloading, and dosing systems, as well as auxiliary equipment – new tanks, pumps, and a heat exchanger. During this work, an analysis of technical, and scientific polymer modified bitumen production literature was done. Additionally, experiments were conducted to determine the effect of the polymer as well as devulcanized crumb rubber concentration in the mixture on the properties of the product. Based on data collected through literature analysis and at the oil refinery, mass and heat balance for facility were compiled, and necessary engineering calculations were performed. Using market data, the economic indicators of the project were assessed. Occupational safety requirements were described, and an environmental assessment was prepared. |
