Abstract [eng] In today’s modern digital space, video production skills play an increasingly important role in effective communication, education and other forms of self-expression; however, adults who seek to acquire these skills on their own face significant obstacles. The main problems stem from the existing language barrier, as there is a lack of Lithuanian language instructional materials, as well as the often inconsistent structure of courses, which fails to ensure a smooth and systematic presentation of the fundamentals. Adults’ need to balance work and family life creates another problem, making it difficult to manage their time and adapt to the schedule of in-person classes, thus increasing the need for flexible and self-directed learning times. The aim of this work is to improve adults’ self-directed learning in creating and editing videos using instructional videos. To achieve this goal, the paper analyzes the potential of video use in distance learning, how to address language barriers and attention retention issues and the principles of adult learning. The design phase presents guidelines for video creation, the stages of creation, methodological and presentation solutions for problem-solving. The video editing course developed includes software installation instructions and files that can be used in the learning process, with instructional videos as the main content. To determine the usefulness of the developed course and the effectiveness of the proposed solutions to the identified problems, a study was conducted with undergraduate students. Analysis of the study results revealed that the course is beneficial for both beginners and those with prior video editing experience. The paper presents conclusions and recommendations for improving the course.
