Abstract [eng] Distance and hybrid learning are becoming an increasingly important part of modern education, providing flexibility and enabling the individualization of the learning process. In the field of electronics engineering, there is still a noticeable lack of practical skills and the ability to apply knowledge in real life situations, which negatively affects specialists’ preparedness for the labor market. Rapid technological development and digitalization require continuously updated competencies that directly impact company efficiency and competitiveness; however, traditional teaching methods do not always ensure sufficient practical training and the ability to solve complex engineering problems. Therefore, it is important to develop virtual learning environments that enable the strengthening of electronics engineers’ competencies. The object of this thesis is the development of knowledge, skills, and competencies of electronics engineers, while the aim is to improve the process of developing electronics engineers’ competencies in order to strengthen professional skills and increase the efficiency of the company’s operations through the use of a virtual learning environment. To achieve this aim, the principles of knowledge and skills development in electronics engineering and the possibilities for competency improvement were analyzed, the opportunities, needs, and challenges of applying virtual learning environments were investigated, a virtual learning environment was developed, and its effectiveness in developing problem solving skills was empirically evaluated. The study applied literature analysis and a mixed research approach, and a learning course was developed in the „Moodle“ environment. The conducted research revealed that electronics engineers have a clear need to continuously update their knowledge and improve professional competencies, and respondents particularly value practical learning, virtual laboratories, individualized learning content, and feedback. The developed virtual learning environment provided conditions for flexible learning, performing practical tasks, and applying knowledge in real-life situations, while empirical evaluation showed an approximately 40 % improvement in theoretical knowledge as well as significant growth in practical skills—from component identification and fault diagnosis to circuit design, measurement execution, and result analysis. Participants rated the learning process as high-quality, interactive, and practically applicable. The developed virtual learning environment effectively improves electronics engineers’ competencies by enhancing theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Empirical results 5 confirmed a significant increase in knowledge, contributing to better professional preparedness and performance.
