Abstract [eng] As environmental regulations become stricter and efforts are made to reduce the negative environmental impact of the transportation sector, increasing attention is being paid to alternative fuels and their additives. Although the long-term goal is to transition to zero-emission vehicles, internal combustion engines are still widely used in transportation and industry, making it essential to seek solutions that reduce exhaust emissions, smoke, and improve engine efficiency. One such solution is the use of hydrogen or hydrogen-containing gases as an additive in compression-ignition engines. Hydrogen is considered a promising fuel of the future because its combustion products are energy and water. Thus, the objective of this master’s thesis is to investigate the influence of hydrogen-containing gas on the efficiency and emissions of an internal combustion engine using diesel and renewable diesel (HVO).
