Abstract [eng] |
For a long time, the priority direction of medicine was the diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis of acute diseases. However, aging population in a global context forces the Governments around the globe to devote particular attention to the improvement of existing health policies and priorities. In addition, tremendous progress is made in medical sciences, as more and more people remain alive after serious injuries, when doctors are confronted with the consequences of illness and injury that disrupt basic human biosocial functions. Thus, a complex not only medical, but also social, pedagogical, and professional work, is needed for the restoration of healthy human functions, therefore the attention paied to the rehabilitation of patients is growing constantly (Kriščiūnas, 2005). |
