Abstract [eng] |
Networking technologies are starting to invade the ordinary home – to carry, for example, telephone conversation, television programs, signals from surveillance cameras, commands for controlling appliances. To be effective, any automation systems must enable all mechanical and electrical systems to work from a single building control point. As all systems connected into common network building owners can remotely monitor and tweak building function such as lighting, fire safety, security, heating, and ventilation systems via the Web. The greatest impediment to creating a residential network is a lack of useful wiring. Most existing dwellings do not have a single unused twisted-wire pair in appropriate locations, and retrofit is expensive. |
